REMOTE VIA ZOOM: From the Mayflower to King Philip's War

Tuesday, November 167:00—8:30 PMOnline

Join us via Zoom on Tuesday, November 16 at 7 PM when New York Times bestselling author Michael Tougias will tell the story of the colonial period with an illustrated slide presentation: From the Mayflower to King Philip's War. While most Americans understand the significance of the landing of the Mayflower and the first Thanksgiving with Massasoit, few are aware of the war and its ramifications. Tougias will discuss the landing of the Mayflower, the hardships they faced, mistakes they made, the help of Squanto and Samoset, the Pequot War of 1636, and the period leading up to and including King Philip’s War. Tougias worked with the leaders of the Wampanoag and Narragansett tribes during his research.

Tougias is one of the country’s leading authorities on this period and is the co-author of the definitive history of the war titled King Philip’s War: The History and Legacy of America’s Forgotten Conflict and the acclaimed Until I Have No Country: A Novel of King Philip’s War. He is the author and co-author of 30 nonfiction books including the national bestsellers Rescue of the Bounty, A Storm Too Soon, Overboard!, The Finest Hours: The True Story of the Coast Guard’s Most Daring Rescue and many more.
