Monday Mornings: Books, Buildings, and Community

Monday, December 29:30—10:30 AMSohier RoomMain Library32 Essex Street, Beverly, MA, 01915

Join Wendy Frontiero for a historical, social, and artistic perspective on the creation of Beverly's two outstanding public library buildings: the Beverly Public Library (1911-1913) located downtown, and the Beverly Farms Library (1915). The downtown library was designed by Cass Gilbert, one of the most celebrated architects in America in the early 20th century. Both buildings involved architect Charles Greely Loring, and his local cousins, Katherine and Louisa Loring, who made fundamental contributions to progressive civic life in Beverly at the beginning of the 20th century.

Free and open to adults. Light refreshments available at 9 AM. Info: Ona at ridenour@noblenet.org or 978-921-6062.
