Monday, May 29:30—10:30 AMSohier RoomMain Library32 Essex Street, Beverly, MA, 01915
Our home, planet Earth, is an amazing place, maybe the only one of its kind in the universe. In this presentation, Professor Young will explain various physical aspects of Earth, such as why it is a hospitable place along with other interesting facts. We will also look at changes that are now occurring on Earth which present a threat to the current stability of life. Professor Young has spent the past 30 years researching Earth from space with satellite imagery, and will be showing some of his research in the presentation. Professor Young is a former chair of the Geography and Sustainability Department at Salem State University where he uses remote sensing (satellite imaging) to analyze climate change and deforestation. In addition to his academic research, he bridges the arts and sciences through art gallery exhibitions where he exposes the public to science and environmental issues.
