Sharing our Stories, Listening to Difference, and Creating Community

Wednesday, May 247:00—8:30 PMSohier RoomMain Library32 Essex Street, Beverly, MA, 01915

Differences enrich communal diversity and each one of us has a chance to co-create our communities by listening to, recording, and reflecting on personal stories.  Would you like to participate in the building of our diverse community by sharing your own story and listening to those of others?

The evening will begin with a brief presentation by Luba Shapiro Grenader, a local artist and art educator. Luba will share examples of her art project, Narrating Remembrance - a reflection on growing up a Jewish girl in Soviet Russia as a nationality and gender minority. Luba will also share excerpts from the memoir written by her mom, entitled Threads of Fate. Five Generations of One Family: From Russia to America, From Oppression to Freedom. We will then gather in small, facilitated dialogue groups to share our own stories. Questions? Contact Graham at ggoss@noblenet.org. Presented in collaboration with Heathmere Center for Cultural Engagement.
