Learn about and how to participate in Salem Sound Coastwatch’s community science programs, including their annual waterbird survey which was featured at our November 2025 Beverly Bird Walks program. That program launched the survey season at David S. Lynch Park with an observation and training in the morning. Anna Cortes is the Project Specialist and Greenscape Coordinator at Salem Sound Coastwatch. She leads outreach and education efforts focused on storm water management and urban forestry across North Shore communities. She develops programs that help municipalities and residents reduce storm water pollution and works closely with municipal partners to support MS4 permit requirements and promote practices that protect local waterways. She holds a BS in Environmental Science from Albright College with a minor in Marine and Aquatic Biology. Prior to joining SSCW, Anna worked with the Massachusetts Department of Conservation and Recreation as a Shorebird Technician and as part of the Greening the Gateway Cities urban tree planting program.
