Beverly Bird Walks: West Beach

Saturday, October 118:00—9:30 AMOff-site

This month's bird walk is in partnership with Salem Sound Coastwatch and will take us to West Beach for birding in the sand. Join birders of all levels to look for shorebirds, raptors, and seasonal migrants, using provided scopes or your eyes and ears, and how Salem Sound changes in fall. Binoculars are not required, but registration is! This program is rain or shine, however severe weather conditions may lead to cancellation. Check our Event Calendar for a cancellation announcement before attending. In partnership with Salem Sound Coastwatch.

Here's how this Beverly Bird Walk will go:

  • Park at West Beach's lot. Spaces are first come, first served.
  • Observe birds in the area from the parking lot and along the beach using scopes brought for the event.
  • Continue looking for birds as we stroll down the beach and back.

Greg Power started birding over 40 years ago. He took up the hobby while working at sea and casually maintained it over the years. In 2021, he enrolled in Massachusetts Audubon’s Birders Certificate Program (BCP). Since retiring in 2022, he has been able to dedicate significantly more time to birding. As a part of BCP, Greg identified many worthwhile birding spots in and around Beverly. Drawing on his experiences with other Beverly birders, he worked with Cornell University’s Laboratory of Ornithology eBird staff and others to create new birding hotspots in the city. Greg seeks new birding spots in Beverly. He often visits parks, playgrounds, and other open spaces. When he's not birding, Greg volunteers with local environmental groups, like Massachusetts Audubon and The Trustees of Reservations.

Registration for this event has now closed.
